Sunday, January 11, 1953 / Monday, January 12, 1953 Age 76, husband of Mrs. PEARL HARRELL RUDD, died Saturday, January 10, 1953 at 12:30 am at his residence, 426 Fishermans Road, Hyde Park after an illness of two months. He was a lifelong resident of Norfolk and was a member of the Berkley Avenue Baptist Church. Surviving besides his wife are 5 sons, ALVIN RAY RUDD, WILLIAM S. RUDD and CHARLES E. RUDD, all of California; FRANK M. RUDD of Philadelphia and WALTER S. RUDD of Lynchburg, VA; 3 daughters, Mrs. E.A. CRUMP, Mrs. L.W. KITCHENS and Miss ROSE RUDD, all of Norfolk; 2 brothers, WILLIE S. RUDD of Norfolk and FRANK RUDD of New York and 7 grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, January 11, 1953 at 3:30 pm in the Sykes Funeral Home, Berkley, by the Rev H.T. BROOME, pastor of the Christ Methodist Church. Pallbearers: JOHN M. HAMPSHIRE, LEE LAWLER, JAMES PAGE, CHARLES BAKALAR, ROBERT SEELEY and GEORGE HINES. Burial was in Magnolia Cemetery.
